Description

Introductory Media Training Workshop

The Sheela Basrur Centre and Public Health Ontario invite you to a day of interactive media training to introduce public health professionals to the media and improve your ability to communicate your messages.

Morning Session: Hosted by the Science Media Centre of Canada, renowned journalists and media experts will provide public health professionals with the knowledge and skills to better understand how the media think and operate. This session offers glimpses into the context for different types of media and programs, turns the table to describe interviews and requests from a journalist's point-of-view, and gives lots of opportunity for formal and informal question and answers.

Afternoon Session: Hosted by PHO, participants will work together on practical exercises to craft messages and conduct interviews to learn how to get key points across in a way that journalists can grasp and the public can understand.

Who should attend: This is an introductory session for public health professionals with limited media experience or who support media spokespeople.

Snacks and lunch are included.
